Low Care

Low level care accommodation offers a greater quality of life for people who benefit significantly from supportive services, companionship and activities, and for whom living without assistance is difficult.

Independence is encouraged in maintaining daily living skills. Each individual's circumstances are different. Resthaven takes an individual approach for each applicant.

Services provided may include showering, dressing, bed making, room cleaning, supervision of medication, provision of all meals and laundry.

The application process requires an independent assessment by the Federal Government Aged Care Assessment Team (ACAT), to ensure the applicant is eligible for low level care.

Following approval, Resthaven conducts an assessment through our admissions process, which aims to ensure that accommodation is offered to those applicants with the greatest need, and that Resthaven's facilities are appropriate for the applicant.

To register, telephone the Admissions Office: +61 8 8373 9122.

Fees
Lounge area at the Paradise Residential FacilityPeople in low level care accommodation pay a refundable means-tested accommodation bond. In order to facilitate this, a 'Request for an Assets Assessment' form is to be submitted to Centrelink or the Department of Veterans' Affairs.

If assets are below the level established by the Australian Government, no accommodation bond is required. (Certain rules apply to establishing the asset level).

For more information about the process, you can download Aged Care Assessment and Approval Guidelines from the Department of Health and Ageing website.

For information about Accommodation Bonds, please refer to the Department of Health and Ageing's Accommodation Bonds for Residential Aged Care.

Applicants are assessed by either Centrelink or the Department of Veterans' Affairs in regard to fees, payable fortnightly.

The ability to give adequate care in low level care ceases when a resident requires full nursing supervision, 24 hours a day. When a change in accommodation is sought, preference is given to existing residents subject to government regulations, such as a further assessment by the Aged Care Assessment Team.
