Resthaven Community Services expand to Gawler
Sue McKechnie, Resthaven Executive Manager Community Services says, ‘I am delighted that Resthaven has opened an outreach office at 5 King Street, Gawler.
‘We continue to have strong demand from older people and their families for support at home throughout the lower Barossa region, which is why we have opened the office as an expansion of Resthaven Northern Community Services, at 16 Gillingham Road, Elizabeth.’
‘And it is very important – a little support can make all the difference to someone’s quality of life. Being able to stay in touch with social groups, or having assistance with personal care and daily tasks can make a huge difference to a person’s ability to stay living independently in their own home.
‘Resthaven currently supports around 400 people in the Gawler and lower Barossa region, and this number will continue to grow.
‘We can now offer onsite health and wellness support such as restorative care, support for people with vision impairment, occupational and physiotherapy, exercise and social support groups, in-home care and support, and respite for carers of older people.
‘As needs change, many people benefit from the support of a Home Care Package, which is personally designed together with each individual to maximise independence and quality of life. To be eligible, an assessment for this level of care must be accessed through the MyAgedCare.gov.au portal. Resthaven can also assist people to register with My Aged Care.
‘A Home Care Package might include assistance from our clinical nursing and allied health team, home modifications, social support and much more, all aimed to deliver independence at home.
