Student Information

Resthaven recognises that it has an important role to play in providing practical and meaningful work experience opportunities to individuals wishing to gain exposure to careers in the aged care sector.

Resthaven aims to offer meaningful and positive opportunities for students where possible or appropriate.

All students completing a student placement at Resthaven are responsible for engaging safe work practices and adhering to Resthaven’s policies and procedures.

Student placements are arranged as part of a recognised program or course of study and include:

  • Secondary school work experience programs, including community service programs
  • Tertiary institutions work experience programs or compulsory work placement eg TAFE, University
  • Registered Training Organisation work experience programs or compulsory work placement.

It is a pre-requisite that the student’s training provider has appropriate insurance, including public liability insurance, that covers the tenure of the student placement. Prior to the commencement of the placement, the student shall be responsible for furnishing Resthaven with appropriate written documentation that outlines the training provider’s insurance cover including the insurance policy currency date.

Individuals not meeting the above educational requirements who seek a voluntary work experience placement can not be accommodated.

All student placements are coordinated through the Workforce Development Unit.
