Holli is making a difference
It’s been an exciting couple of years for Resthaven Western Community Services Enrolled Nurse, Holli Gilbertson.
Holli, who started with Resthaven in mid-2018, originally started out working in hospitality, as she ‘loves working with people.’
As she also loves working with older people, she decided to change career paths.
‘I did a certificate III in aged care, then I moved to Resthaven [Western Community Services] as a Home Support Worker, so while I was working, I was studying to become a nurse,’ she explains.
‘When I finished my diploma of enrolled nursing, I applied for a full time position, and I got the job [at Resthaven Western Community Services], which was very exciting.’
‘Now I’m studying to be a Registered Nurse.’
One of Holli’s favourite things about working with Resthaven is ‘the flexibility of my job – getting out on the road, going to different clients’ houses.’
Holli is also able to provide nursing care and have a chat with people, which ‘makes so much difference.’
‘I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve had conversations with people that coming to visit them has made a significant impact on their life,’ she says.
Holli is supported by a strong staff team, including supervision from a Registered Nurse, which Holli finds very helpful.
Another thing that Holli likes about Resthaven is the flexibility, especially whilst studying nursing at university, saying, ‘Resthaven has been extremely supportive.’
‘[It’s] probably the most rewarding thing I’ve ever done with my life.’
