Public art installed at Resthaven Leabrook

A beautiful sculpture depicting a grandfather and grandson walking along a wall, by local artist, Gerry McMahon, has been installed at Resthaven Leabrook, on the corner of Kensington and Glynburn Roads.

The sculpture was commissioned by Resthaven as part of the major redevelopment of the home, which was completed in May 2020. Gerry’s beautiful artwork was the final finishing touch to the $1.6m redevelopment.

Manager, Mark Bednall, says, ‘Gerry’s sculpture, like others installed at Resthaven locations throughout the state, captures a lovely, gentle moment between generations.’

‘I really love this sculpture, and I’m not alone – within two hours of the sculpture being placed, a member of the public made a point of coming into reception to say that she thought it was a brilliant piece of work!’

Resthaven has commissioned Gerry to create artworks for many sites, including Resthaven Aberfoyle Park, Mitcham, Mount Gambier, Murray Bridge, Paradise, Port Elliot, and Head Office.

Each piece depicts a different intergenerational scene, capturing the innocence of youth and wisdom of age coming together.
