Retirement Living

For independent living units, no assessment is required. To be eligible applicants are to be aged 60 years or older.

Low level respite, low care (hostel) and high care (nursing home) all require an independent assessment by the Australian Government Aged Care Assessment Team. To find your local Aged Care Assessment Team, contact the Commonwealth Carelink Centre on 1800 052 222, or visit www.carelinksa.asn.au.

Living in a community such as Resthaven involves being accorded certain rights and accepting the responsibilities associated with living with others. Resthaven encourages feedback for quality improvement.

From time to time, meetings for all residents are held with the Administration to discuss issues and planning matters. Residents' Meetings are a forum for issues and opinions to be raised with management.

As in your own home, visitors are welcome at any time (within reason). We simply ask that consideration is given to others.During the winter months, colds and flu are part of everyday life. Resthaven encourages residents to be vaccinated against the flu, and has a program of staff immunization, as studies have shown that this can reduce the spread of infection and subsequently illness.

All residential facilities have garden areas for use by residents, relatives and visitors. Keen gardeners may discuss their desire to maintain their interest with the manager. Outdoor entertainment areas are available for barbecues and social activities.

Each site has several lounges for communal use, and some have special private dining rooms which can be booked for residents' private functions and special occasions, such as birthday celebrations, special anniversaries, etc.

In the interests of health and safety, Resthaven has a "no smoking policy". Smoking is not permitted in any buildings.
