10k Step Challenge Accepted!
In recognising ‘Safe Work Month’ throughout October, staff from Resthaven’s Marion Community Services, Onkaparinga Community Services, and Community Respite Services are ‘stepping up’ to complete a 10,000 step per day challenge!
Almost fifty staff are participating across the three community services sites, with the challenge being driven by the Assistant Managers.
According to Assistant Manager Community Respite Services, Julian Sporne, it is already creating some healthy competition!
‘It started with the aim of encouraging staff to start walking to shake off those winter blues,’ says Julian.
‘However, as of mid-October, the teams have amassed an amazing 4,196,794 steps, which if my reckoning is correct, is the distance from Adelaide to Darwin!’
‘The Resthaven Marion Community Services team is currently leading the challenge, followed by Onkaparinga Community Services, with Community Respite Services in the bronze medal position.’
‘If we average the steps by the number of staff in each team, Community Respite Services moves into second overall – but who is being competitive?’
‘Staff across all three sites have really taken up the challenge, and are out at lunchtimes walking the streets and getting out and about after work.’
‘At the end of the day, the intent was to get staff moving and active, and this is certainly being achieved!’
The 10k step challenge ends on 20 October. Who will take out the top prize? Watch this space!
