    Are you looking for respite, or are you a carer needing extra support in your caring role? Resthaven offers access to useful services and programs for carers which can assist you to stay well and healthy.

    Overview

    The support we offer is flexible; choose from day or overnight respite in a variety of settings, either at home or at one of our cottages or residential sites.

    To sustain your emotional health, we also offer counselling, therapy, social and support groups.

    Whatever support you require, you can be confident that Resthaven staff offer caring high quality services. Cottage and overnight respite prepare homemade meals in a home style environment in the southern metropolitan area.

    We are highly trained and experienced in meeting the needs of older people, including those who have problems associated with memory loss or confusion.

    Respite services

    We offer:

    • Residential Respite – short-term overnight accommodation at one of our residential sites across South Australia.
    • In home Respite – we come to the home of the person being cared for.
    • Group Respite – our day respite programs include respite clubs, small group respite, respite for working carers, or extended day respite at one of our home-like cottages.
    • Respite Cottages – planned, short-term overnight respite in a home-style environment in metropolitan Adelaide and country South Australia.
    • Carer Support Groups – we provide information, referrals, support groups, social groups, therapy and allied health services and counselling.

    Social Groups:

    Monday:

    • Monday Lads: men’s social group visiting various local places of interest.

    Tuesday:

    • Men About Town: men’s social group visiting various local places of interest
    • Walk me to the moon: Social walking group with coffee
    • Creative minds: Creative Art using a variety of tools and support. Chat and Fun, tea/coffee and sweet provided
    • The Shed: participate in community projects, build connections and feel productive in a supportive environment. Transport can be arranged if required.

    Wednesday:

    • Just Fellas: men’s social group, visiting various local places of interest
    • Carer’s Hub: Peer groups with opportunity to connect. Meaningful information offered. Guest speakers. Tea/coffee and sweet provided. Free for carers. A social support group referral is needed
    • Garden Gurus at The Shed: enjoy the outdoor courtyard, help fill our high-raised planters with greenery, and created small projects to take home with you!
    • Card Lovers: enjoy card games with others! Afternoon tea provided
    • Koffee Club: ladies social group visiting local cafes and eateries. Coffee, fellowship and fun!

    Thursday:

    • Ladies On The Move: ladies lunch group, visiting various local eateries.
    • Thursday Luncheon: social lunch at a local café or hotel. Men and women welcome.

    Friday:

    • Gardening Projects: help planting seedlings for seasonal vegetables and potting flowers. Held at Aldinga house
    • Koffee Club: ladies social group visiting local cafes and eateries. Coffee, fellowship and fun!

    Eligibility

    A My Aged Care referral number is required to access community respite services.

    Respite is available for carers who live in inner southern Adelaide and care for older people, including those with short term memory loss.
