100th Birthday Celebrations

Many happy returns to Mrs Violet Pritchard, who celebrated her 100th birthday on 21 March!

Violet, who is supported to live independently in her own home by Resthaven Onkaparinga Community Services, was delighted that Resthaven staff were also able to help her to celebrate this milestone, whilst still ensuring her safety by practicing the social distancing measures that were in place on that date.

As Violet has no immediate family, and her extended family are overseas and unable to visit at this time, Resthaven Onkaparinga Community Services staff initially organised a small celebration for her at the Willunga Hotel. However, when social distancing guidelines were put in place, plans had to be altered.

With a total of nine people invited, six being Resthaven staff, the day was able to be moved somewhere outdoors, and the Willunga Hotel prepared a takeaway meal instead!

Being a ‘northener’ hailing from the United Kingdon, Violet had requested roast beef and Yorkshire pudding, and the Willunga Hotel kitchen was happy to oblige. Violet loved her special meal, saying it was ‘delicious!’

After the meal, there was birthday cake, followed by speeches, where Resthaven staff presented Violet with a congratulatory letter from Board President, Mark Porter.

Violet was absolutely thrilled with the whole day, and so grateful for the extra effort that the Resthaven staff team made to make this a memorable occasion.
