Clients delighted by Ridgway House ‘facelift’

Clients of Resthaven Community Respite Services are delighted by the recent upgrade to Ridgway House, at 36 Sussex Terrace, Westbourne Park, which provides a ‘homely’ place for them to stay when their carers need a short break.

‘Ridgway House offers day and overnight respite for carers, with home cooked meals, socialising, activities, and 24/7 support, giving carers a break from anywhere between an afternoon to a whole week,’ says Sue McKechnie, Executive Manager, Community Services.

‘The cottage recently underwent a “facelift,” with new air conditioning, modern ensuite bathrooms, and new carpet throughout.’

‘Clients and carers alike are very happy with the renovations.’

‘Carers can be anyone who looks after someone, including parents, partners, brothers, sisters, friends, sons or daughters.’

‘Often, they do not actually think of themselves as a ‘carer’, even though they provide regular unpaid support to those who need it.’

‘However, the role that carers play is immensely important, as is ensuring that they have a break from their caring role so that they stay well themselves.’

Resthaven supports carers through a variety of options across the metropolitan area, the Adelaide Hills, Fleurieu, Riverland and Limestone Coast, and can assist with the application process for government funded support.
