Commitment of Love Ceremony for Valentine’s Day

On Friday 14 February, the Resthaven Marion Community Services ‘Friday Club’ held a ‘commitment of love ceremony’ for two members, Jennifer and Geoffrey.

Coordinator, Susan-Jane Billing, says, ‘The couple are partners in life, but not married. Clients came up with the idea of a commitment ceremony for Valentine’s Day, and they happily agreed!’

‘The ceremony, held in front of clients and staff, was officiated by client, Sister Pauline Treloar. Mavis and Colin Wood were “bridesmaid” and “groomsman”.’

‘There were heart-shaped sandwiches and other treats, along with a surprise three-tiered wedding cake.’

‘The room was filled with love, laughter, and tears of joy.’

‘Congratulations to the happy couple!’

The Resthaven Marion Community Services Friday Club is just one of the many social and wellness groups run at the centre at 43 Finniss Street, Marion, SA.
