The South Australian Association of Gerontology conference is being held in Adelaide today.

The theme of this year’s conference is ‘From the Ground Up’ and brings together professionals interested in caring and providing services for older people such as aged care service providers, policy makers, clinicians, researchers, students, and older people themselves.

Resthaven is well represented at this year’s conference, with Resthaven Board Member, Professor Renuka Visvanathan, giving a key note speech.

Lesley Habel, Resthaven Project Manager, is presenting a project participant’s perspective on developing the multicultural workforce to increase the quality of cross-cultural care, on behalf of Executive Manager Workforce Development and Governance, Wendy Morey.

This presentation is part of a symposium being held on the ‘Developing the multicultural workforce to improve the quality of care for residents’ project Resthaven currently collaborate on with Flinders University and Anglicare. Lesley Habel will also present the process of developing an unfolding case study to enhance staff learning at the conference.

Presentations such as this exemplify Resthaven’s strategy to collaborate with national groups who share the objective of quality services for older people and their carers.

Established in 1935, Resthaven shares the lives and wisdom of more than 9,000 older people and their carers throughout South Australia.
