Diversity Celebrated at Staff Multicultural Luncheon

Resthaven Malvern staff recently came together to celebrate their diverse backgrounds with a multicultural luncheon held at the home at 43 Marlborough Street, Malvern.

‘Every month, we provide a barbeque lunch to staff, to thank them for their hard work,’ says Manager Residential Services, Terry Kirkwood.

‘A group of staff asked if they could have a ‘one off’ multicultural shared lunch instead, where everyone brought in food to share. We thought it was a great idea!’

‘All staff were invited, and asked to bring along a plate to share that reflected their cultural heritage.’

‘The response was overwhelming, with more than twenty staff joining in the fun on the day.’

‘We sat down together in the Hall and shared a variety of amazing dishes from a wide array of cultural heritage.’

‘It was a very enjoyable event, and well received by all.’

Resthaven Project Officer Multicultural Programs, Priscilla de Pree, says, ‘Around 26% of Resthaven staff come from a culturally or linguistically diverse background, and speak a language other than English.’
