Resthaven clients get crafty with papier maché
Halloween Heads!
In early October, Resthaven Northern Community Services clients created amazing papier maché “Halloween heads” during their weekly social group, held at the site at 16 Gillingham Road, Elizabeth.
Manager, Tracey Bunyon, says, ‘The social group meets on Thursday or Friday mornings, and enjoys morning tea together, followed by a range of activities.’
‘We do something different each week, depending on what is happening – we’ve made paper daffodils for Daffodil Day, or had quiz mornings.’
‘The group also enjoy a monthly bus trip.’
‘This time, we thought we’d celebrate Halloween!’
‘We made our papier maché heads using the “tried and true” method of balloons, newspapers, and glue made from flour and water.’
‘It was lots of fun, although messy – luckily we provided plastic aprons!’
‘Clients commented on how it brought back fond memories of their childhood.’
‘We waited a week for the creations to fully dry, before decorating them to create “Halloween heads”.’
‘The group created some very grizzly looking creatures!’
‘The heads were used as table decorations for our Halloween celebrations on 31 October.’
‘Everyone had lots of fun, and lots of laughs, and had a great time showing off some artistic flair.’
‘Well done to all.’
