‘We enjoy sharing success stories, and this one is about Registered Nursing student from Flinders University, Babita,’ says Resthaven Manager Workforce Development, Tom Cleghorn.
‘In 2016, Babita undertook a first year student placement at Resthaven Marion.’
‘Due to a fantastic learning experience and overall placement at Resthaven Marion, she requested to return to Resthaven for her final year; a time when many students choose an acute care hospital for their placement.’
‘Babita is currently completing her final placement at Resthaven Murray Bridge, and has expressed interest in applying for a place in our graduate programme next year.’
‘This demonstrates the importance of investing in our students, and reinforces that, when we get it right, we create great momentum for a future career working with older people.’
‘Resthaven supports the current and future aged care workforce in a range of ways including via scholarships, professional development opportunity, mentoring and tailored educational materials.’
Resthaven supports older people in twelve residential aged care homes located at Aberfoyle Park, Bellevue Heights, Craigmore, Leabrook, Malvern, Mitcham, Marion, Mount Gambier, Murray Bridge, Paradise, Port Elliot, and Westbourne Park.
Resthaven also supports older people to live independently in their own homes across metropolitan Adelaide, the Hills, Murraylands, Riverland, Barossa, Fleurieu Peninsula and Limestone Coast.
