Resthaven Mitcham’s Greek Odyssey (and surprise visit!)

On 19 May, Resthaven Mitcham residents were treated to a trip to the Greek Islands—no passport required!

Lifestyle Coordinator, Sylvia Ortiz, says, ‘We kicked off with karaoke in the Main Hall, followed by a culturally appropriate shot of ouzo, and cuisine prepared by the talented Kitchen team.’

‘After our toast, residents eased into their armchairs as they got ready for their virtual Greek odyssey!’

‘Residents were transported to the Greek Islands. Many learned of a new culture, while others reminisced on their hometowns, and we all enjoyed hearing their stories amongst the group.’

However, this was not the main event.

‘We were delighted to welcome grade three and four students from St George College, who had a special surprise planned for us.’

‘The students had been practising a Greek-style dance to perform just for us, which was very much enjoyed by the group—at the end, a lot of us got up to dance with them!’

‘After all that fun, we would love to welcome the students back here for another visit soon.’

What an ‘opa’ of a day!
