The Iconic Friday Club’s ‘BIG’ mission

Clients at Resthaven Marion Community Services have formed The Iconic Friday Club – a club for the ‘BIG’-hearted!

Social Group Coordinator, Monika, says, ‘This group is fantastic, and they are always looking for a fun time.’

‘Last month, they engaged in conversation with lots of laughs around the theme of ‘BIG’ icons in Australia.

In keeping with the theme, they each enjoyed a slice from a ‘BIG’ doughnut for afternoon tea in February, made to order by Bradley’s Bakery in Christie Downs.

‘Everyone was amazed that a doughnut of that size was even possible – just look at our faces captured in the photo!’

‘Many group members were able to reflect on the time they visited The Big Pineapple on the Sunshine Coast, Queensland, The Big Banana in Coffs Harbour, New South Wales, and our very own Big Rocking Horse in Gumeracha, South Australia.’

‘The Friday Club is not only fun, but educational, which is important in stimulating client’s minds, and gives them the motivation to join us each week.’

‘So far, clients have also enjoyed learning that the Big Wine Cask in Buronga, New South Wales, could hold up to 400,000 litres of wine (if needed), and that due to the perfect potato growing conditions in Robertson, the Big Concrete Potato is an icon in the area.’

The Friday Club is a weekly social group based at Resthaven Marion Community Services, held each Friday afternoon –this is a great opportunity for anyone who is seeking to make new social connections.
