Kezia gains aged care experience

UniSA Occupational Therapy student, Kezia Norton, is thoroughly enjoying working in the role of Resthaven Craigmore Lifestyle Coordinator whilst she takes a year-long break from her studies.

The six month contract position, covering a period of maternity leave, was the perfect opportunity for Kezia to gain aged care experience during her study break.

Kezia explains, ‘I am excited to keep working in Lifestyle while I finish my degree. I can help older people with the knowledge I am picking up along the way.’

‘Resthaven has supported my professional development by giving me this opportunity to extend my capabilities, learn more about aged care, and develop new skills and confidence.’

‘Lifestyle makes a significant impact in the lives of older people. Our program enables socialisation, boosts confidence, maintains and encourages mobility, and most of all provides life enjoyment, which is so important in a person’s overall wellbeing.’

Kezia chose to work with Resthaven as ‘I am involved with the Uniting Church, and I used to volunteer at Resthaven Westbourne Park – I realised my connection to this organisation was already quite solid.’

‘I encourage everyone, no matter your age and skillset, to consider a career in aged care – there are so many opportunities, and it’s a truly fulfilling career path.’
