Ways to access Home Support Services:

Commonwealth Home Support Program
Support at Home (previously known as Home Care Packages)
Lifestyle Choices Plus
(privately funded)

There are three main ways to access our home services:

1. Commonwealth Home Support Program

The CHSP offers low-level support for older Australians who need a little help to stay independent at home.

Government subsidy: Yes

Income assessment required: Resthaven assessment

Client contribution: Yes – see our CHSP Fee Schedules

Typical services include:

Help with showering and dressing
Housework, laundry, shopping and transport
Meal preparation
Respite for carers
Allied health and social programs

Things to note:

Services are allocated by My Aged Care and delivered by the hour
Contributions are not means tested
Services are limited, and should your circumstances change, you may be assessed for a higher level of care

2. Support at Home Program (replaced Home Care Packages on 1 Nov, 2025)

The Support at Home Program provides a higher level of care for people with more complex needs.

Funding levels: 8 levels of funding based on your assessed needs

Government subsidy: Yes

Income tested: Yes – based on Services Australia means testing

Client contribution: Required

Your funding contributes to an individualised Support Plan developed with My Aged Care. We’ll prepare a care plan with you, based on your needs and personal circumstances, taking into consideration your goals and the funding provided for your level of support.

3. Private Home Care Services (Lifestyle Choices Plus)

If you’re not eligible for a government-funded program, or prefer to begin straight away, Resthaven can provide services on a full fee-for-service basis—without the need for government approvals. You can also choose to add these services to your existing government-funded care.

No contracts or waiting lists. No income testing. Just flexible, high-quality services tailored to you.

Choose Lifestyle Choices Plus if you:

Need support while waiting for funding and don’t want to wait without help
Aren’t eligible for a government program
Don’t want to be assessed or disclose financial information to Services Australia
Want to top up funded services to meet extra needs
