Marion Social Group for ‘Girls on the Go’

Resthaven Marion Community Services have launched a new social group, titled ‘Girls on the Go’.

Designed for older members of the community, this ‘females only’ bus trip takes participants out and about each Saturday afternoon to see the sights of Adelaide.

Manager, Deb McDonald, says, ‘The idea for the group came about after it was identified that weekends can be a time of loneliness for some.’

‘We thought that a social activities group might be popular. It turns out we were right – the group was full within a week!’

Girls on the go at the cafe‘The first trip saw the social butterflies op–shopping in the western suburbs, with shoes and other goodies purchased.’

‘Next, it was time to stop for a cuppa, a chat and a laugh at La Vita café, before heading back to Resthaven Marion Community Services.’

Friendships are being developed as the ‘Girls on the Go’ share their wealth of experience and significant life journeys with each other. It is so insightful and valuable.

Trips planned in the next few weeks include the Adelaide Botanic Gardens, Port Adelaide, Burnside Village, and McLaren Vale — just to name a few.

The ladies all live in the Marion community, and attend the local Resthaven community centre for other social activities.

‘Now, the ‘Girls are on the Go’, are enjoying the weekend, too.’

    ‘Go Girls!’

The ‘Girls on the Go’ group complements the ‘Men on the Move’ group, also run through Resthaven Marion Community Services.
