Visiting Hours for Mother’s Day: Sunday 10 May, 2020
For Mother’s Day, this Sunday 10 May, 2020, the visiting time at Resthaven’s residential aged care homes has been extended to 1-5pm.
Limited daily visiting arrangements on all other days are between 1-3pm. We appreciate your support, cooperation and understanding in ensuring all of the required entry screening is completed appropriately prior to entry.
Please note that all current visiting conditions remain the same:
- Visitors must sign in on arrival and undertake screening before they can enter.
This screening includes temperature monitoring and evidence checking of a visitor having had their 2020 influenza vaccination. - Visitors are to maintain 1.5 metres social distancing at all times.
- No person 16 years or under may enter (with the exception of end of life care arrangements).
- A maximum of one visit per day by up to two people to an individual resident for a maximum visit period of 30 minutes.
Although visiting hours have been extended for Mother’s Day only, it is important to understand that there is no change to the maximum duration of the visit (30 minutes) or the requirement for one visit only per day for each resident (with a maximum of 2 people).
If a visitor arrives to see a resident who has already received a visit that day from another person, we are not in a position to allow the visitor to enter. This is a requirement within the South Australia Emergency Management (Residential Aged Care Facilities No 3) (COVID-19) Direction 2020.
To avoid any disappointment on the day, we encourage you to coordinate with family and friends regarding visiting arrangements over the next few days, rather than solely on Mother’s Day. Please coordinate with each other as to who will visit and when, over several days.
We would also like to remind you of the restrictions in place regarding delivery of gifts to the sites. Acceptable items include:
- Craft items such as wool, fabrics and other items to use for craft.
- Letters and cards.
- Commercially packaged food items that do not require refrigeration, such as biscuits, chips, chocolates, bottled drinks (including wine), etc. Gifts cannot contain homemade items, takeaway food, and high risk food items eg soft cheese, cured meats etc).
- Flowers, ideally not wrapped in plastic (as the Coronavirus lives for extended periods on plastic).
- Personal laundry can be collected and returned with prior arrangement.
Please contact reception to check drop off times.
A further reminder that under the Direction, no resident may leave the residential aged care facility at this time. There are only very specific exemptions allowed (to attend a medical or dental treatment or to attend the funeral of a member of the resident’s immediate family).
We thank you for your understanding and cooperation with visiting arrangements.
These conditions for visiting have been implemented in accordance with the Department of Health guidelines, state emergency directions and our ongoing commitment to protecting the health and wellbeing of vulnerable older people in our care.
We do hope you have an opportunity to share this special day in a meaningful way on Sunday or over coming days.
