Murray Bridge ‘Aged Care Precinct’ Officially Opened

On Friday 18 January 2019, the $18m Resthaven Murray Bridge redevelopment, encompassing both residential and community services, was officially opened by the president of the Resthaven Board, Mark Porter, and dedicated by the Moderator of the Uniting Church in South Australia, Rev Sue Ellis.

The landmark site at 37-53 Swanport Road, Murray Bridge, is now home to the Resthaven Murray Bridge residential aged care home, along with the Resthaven Murray Bridge, Hills & Fleurieu Community Services offices, creating an ‘aged care precinct’ for older people across the Murraylands.

More than 50 residents, clients, staff, volunteers and dignitaries (including the local state MP, Adrian Pederick, and Mayor, Brenton Lewis), gathered to celebrate the opening of the redevelopment, which was two years – and a lot of hard work – in the making.

CEO, Richard Hearn, says, ‘The outcome of this development is outstanding.’

‘I thank all staff for their significant work throughout the process, led by the managers, Debbie Lindner and Cecelia Oxborrow.’

‘The staff showed outstanding dedication in maintaining high quality care for residents whilst the project was undertaken. Equally, the residents and their families have been very supportive throughout this complex project, and are now able to reap the rewards.’

‘The community team did a great job in continuation of services in the community throughout a significant office move from Adelaide Road and transition to the new work environment.’

‘It was pleasing to see these two outstanding teams working together to support positive outcomes for older people throughout this significant readjustment.’

‘We look forward to continuing to support older people throughout the Murraylands from the new Murray Bridge “Aged Care Precinct”.’

‘Undertaking such projects whilst continuing to provide services requires significant support and flexibility from the residents and their families. We greatly appreciate the positive nature in which the Murray Bridge community has responded to this project, which is of great importance to our consumers and this community.’

‘Well done and thank you to all.’

Resthaven’s residential and in-home care and support options are offered throughout metropolitan Adelaide, the Adelaide Hills, Murraylands, Riverland, Barossa, Fleurieu Peninsula and the Limestone Coast.
