A musical day out to enjoy the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra

On 31 October, more than 40 Resthaven Northern Community Services clients were supported to attend a special performance of Elgar’s ‘Enigma Variations’ by the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra at the Adelaide Town Hall.

Led by Artist in Association, the legendary Pinchas Zukerman, this Master Series 9 ‘Enigma Variations’ are inspired by real people, friends of the composer – a diverse company whose portraits come alive each time they are performed, and this concert was no exception. The tickets were made available by the ASO as a community gesture to Resthaven, a not for profit charitable organisation.

Manager, Karen Hammond, was thrilled to accept the offer of tickets, and says, ‘Clients were very keen to attend the concert, and met at Resthaven Northern Community Services at 16 Gillingham Road, Elizabeth, before boarding a charter bus to the city.’

‘On arrival, clients were invited into the “Mingling Room”, where they had the opportunity to meet and greet with the musicians prior to the performance.’

‘Mr John Nimmo (pictured) is a musician himself, and was delighted to share his reflections on past and current music trends with the artists.’

‘The concert was a delight, and thoroughly enjoyed by all.’

‘On the return journey, clients enjoyed a scenic drive past the metropolitan beaches, followed with a picnic lunch at Largs Bay.’

‘Feedback from the day was very positive, with guests saying how much they enjoyed the concert, and thanking Resthaven and especially the ASO for this unique opportunity.’

    Thanks indeed!
