New Dementia and Mental Health Nurse Practitioner to support service delivery
Resthaven is currently recruiting for a Nurse Practitioner – Dementia and Mental Health.
‘I am delighted that we are recruiting for this new position’, says Tina Cooper, Executive Manager Residential Services.
‘For some time, we have recognised the need for health practitioners with specialist skills in dementia and mental health, and how they can support our customers, if and when they are needed.’
‘The Nurse Practitioner – Dementia and Mental Health is an innovative and exciting career opportunity that Resthaven has created for a suitably qualified Registered Nurse endorsed as a Nurse Practitioner by AHPRA.’
‘This new clinical leadership position will drive innovative, flexible, evidence-based and person-centred advanced nursing services in partnership with the healthcare team, residents, clients and their carers.’
‘The opportunity to expand our knowledge base and skills in these important areas will have great benefit for both our customers and staff in striving to maximise quality of life outcomes, and in providing high quality care and service delivery.’
‘The successful candidate will, ideally, have previous experience in working with people who have dementia and/or mental health conditions as an autonomous practitioner.’
‘Effective leadership skills, excellent communication, problem solving, conflict resolution and negotiation skills are also important.’
‘We would prefer a postgraduate qualification in gerontology, dementia or mental health, with particular experience with older people.’
‘Having employed a Nurse Practitioner specialising in Palliative Care for more than five years, we know there are benefits in employing specialists at this level.’
‘Resthaven’s Nurse Practitioner – Palliative Care, Peter Jenkin, has been making a wonderful difference to the quality of a customer’s end of life journey, and has been acknowledged with several awards for his contribution.’
‘It is this success that has encouraged us in employing another Nurse Practitioner in the increasingly complex area of dementia and mental health.’
