On Thursday 15 November, residents, staff, volunteers, and stakeholders gathered at Resthaven Westbourne Park to celebrate the completion of the $6m site redevelopment.

Manager Residential Services, Marian Greenshields, was delighted to cut the celebratory cake with the help of Executive Manager Residential Services, Tina Cooper, and resident, Mrs Audrey Rice.

A dedication and blessing was performed by volunteer Chaplain’s Assistant, Pam Smith.

Building and Property Services Manager, Emmet O’Donovan, says, ‘This redevelopment has greatly improved the accommodation choices and options for the 129 residents of Resthaven Westbourne Park.’

‘The home has undergone several major renovations over the past 51 years.’

‘This most recent refurbishment brings Resthaven Westbourne Park into line with Resthaven’s long-term strategy of meeting current and future expectations, by updating all shared rooms to single rooms with ensuite bathrooms.’

Marian is ‘so pleased’ with the outcome of this redevelopment, noting that ‘a particularly welcome addition is the new 16 place secure dementia care area with a central courtyard.’

Resthaven Westbourne Park is a purpose built aged care home that has offered support for older people since 1967.
