85th Birthday Card at Resthaven Mount Gambier

‘Mercy Place’ residents have sent their pen pals at Resthaven Mount Gambier a ‘happy 85th birthday’ card, in honour of Resthaven’s 85th anniversary year.

For some time, the Resthaven Mount Gambier pen pal group have been exchanging cards and letters with residents from Mercy Place, a residential aged care home in Western Australia.

When Mercy Place heard that Resthaven is celebrating it’s 85th anniversary this year, their residents set about making a ‘birthday card’ for Resthaven, which Resthaven Mount Gambier residents were delighted to receive.

The card arrived just in time for Resthaven’s ‘official’ 85th birthday of 11 May – the anniversary of its opening back in 1935.

Lifestyle Coordinator, Trudyanne Bedson, says, ‘The Resthaven Mount Gambier pen pal group is very popular.’

‘It’s always exciting to receive our letters and cards, and residents love keeping their “pals” updated on all the happenings here at our home.’

‘It was very thoughtful of Mercy Place to wish us a happy birthday – thank you!’

Resthaven was opened by Lady Kidman in Brighton, South Australia, on 11 May, 1935, and is a not for profit, South Australian aged care community service associated with the Uniting Church.

Resthaven now supports thousands of older South Australians and their carers throughout metropolitan Adelaide, the Adelaide Hills, Murraylands, Fleurieu, Barossa, Riverland and Limestone Coast of South Australia.
