    Recognising National Men’s Health Week

Today, staff from Resthaven’s Maintenance Services will attend a meeting with a difference in the Activity Hall at Resthaven Malvern. It will have a men’s health focus with guest speakers.

‘We all have an interest in improving our physical and mental health,’ says Stephen Hooper, Resthaven Manager Corporate Services, who suggested the unique meeting format in response to feedback from the staff that a men’s health theme would be helpful for them.

‘I selected the guest speakers around the Men’s Health Week theme, so they will discuss physical, mental, and financial health.’

‘Keynote speaker is Professor Gary Wittert, Mortlock Professor of Medicine, Head of Medicine at the University of Adelaide, Senior Consulting Endocrinologist at the Royal Adelaide Hospital, and Director of the Freemasons Foundation Centre for Men’s Health.‘

Other speakers include Kyla Pizzino from Statewide Super, the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia, and Matt Carter from Mates in Construction.

‘Another highlight of the meeting will be a visit from several members of the Veteran and Vintage Motorcycle Club of South Australia, who will participate in question and answer sessions about their restored motorcycles.’

‘Some of their restored motorcycles will be on display in the foyer for both residents and attendees to view, along with a memorabilia display.’

‘I’ve been a member of the Veteran and Vintage Motorcycle Club of SA for 25 years, and I thought it would be a great idea to have them at Resthaven Malvern, so that all Resthaven Malvern residents, staff, and volunteers can view them. There are some wonderful examples being brought along by their proud owners.’

They will be on display on from 10.30am – 2pm in the foyer, at 43 Marlborough Street, Malvern.
