Resthaven Aberfoyle Park First Birthday Celebrations

On Friday, 4 October Resthaven Aberfoyle Park celebrated its 1st Birthday, with a morning tea and afternoon concert.

‘We asked staff and residents to dress up in outfits from their favourite era, and they certainly delivered!’ says Mia Brooks, Manager Resthaven Aberfoyle Park.

We had ‘30s Flappers, and flower children galore, with many staff dressing in a ‘60s theme.

‘Guests weren’t in the know, so were very surprised to see everyone dressed up, and praised all the costumes, wishing they’d known so they could dress up too!’

Residents and their families gathered in the beautifully decorated hall, accompanied on piano by resident musician, Mrs Alida Van Helden.

They were joined by special guests Steve Murray MP, Member for Davenport, and Resthaven staff Richard Hearn, CEO, Tina Cooper, Executive Manager Residential Services, and David Norton, Executive Manager Finance.

Invited to cut the cake were two of Resthaven Aberfoyle Park’s earliest residents, Mrs Olive Goddard (second resident) and Mrs Denyse Doumanis, (15th resident), pictured above with Mia.

When asked about their experience of Resthaven Aberfoyle Park, Mrs Doumanis says, ‘I just think all the staff here are wonderful and look after us so well. I couldn’t ask for a better place to live, we are a big family.’

The festivities continued after lunch, with a concert by Wayne Trembath singing a selection of crooners, from Neil Diamond to Elvis Presley.

Staff who dressed up also participated in a fashion parade, with residents voting for their favourite costume, which was Jake Gibson, maintenance!

The concert was followed by afternoon tea, featuring the delicious 1st birthday cake.

    Happy birthday, Resthaven Aberfoyle Park!
