Resthaven to speak at ‘Asia Opportunities’ Seminar

Resthaven’s collaborative relationship with the Baan Sudthavas Foundation (BSV) in Thailand has led to an exciting opportunity to present at the seminar entitled, ‘Asia Opportunities in Ageing Well’ on 20 April at the City of Charles Sturt.

Resthaven Executive Manager Workforce Development and Governance, Wendy Morey, was invited to speak at the event about Resthaven’s ongoing collaboration with BSV.

The seminar is sponsored by the Department of State Development, with a focus on South Australia’s relationship with China, Malaysia and Thailand.

‘I’m looking forward to the opportunity to speak about Resthaven’s relationship with BSV – it is a partnership that has been developing since 2012,’ says Wendy.

‘Resthaven has been working together with BSV as they create their home for destitute older women in Thailand and as they engage their local community in ‘active ageing’

‘Resthaven and BSV share similar values of trust, dignity and choice.’

‘Over the years, BSV staff and management have visited Resthaven to see first-hand how we approach our work, and take ideas back to Thailand to consider in that context.’

‘Likewise, some of Resthaven’s employees spent time in Thailand, building relationships and learning about BSV’s business practices.’

‘In 2017, Resthaven and BSV co-sponsored and co-organised an “Active Ageing” conference in Bangkok, which aimed to share ideas around wellness and active ageing.’

‘It will be gratifying to share the Resthaven/BSV story at the Asia Opportunities in Ageing Well seminar.’

‘We continue to collaborate with BSV as they move forward with planning for a specialist “Memory Support Unit” [accommodation and services specifically designed to support residents living with dementia] at their care home in Thailand.’

‘We look forward to sharing our knowledge in this area, based on more than 80 years of experience in providing high-quality services to older people their carers.’
