    Resthaven Celebrates Carers Week 2019

This year’s National Carers Week runs from 13 to 19 October, and recognises Australia’s 2.7 million unpaid carers, who make a remarkable contribution to our community.

‘To show our support for carers in our community, we have put together a program of free workshops for carers of older people, facilitated by experts in their respective fields’, says Carole Matthews, Manager, Resthaven Community Respite Services.

‘The workshops cover a wide range of topics, between 15 October and 22 October. Most workshops will be hosted by Marion-Warradale Uniting Church in the hall, 9 Township Road Marion.’

    Workshops include:

    • Practical stuff for women: how to do small household or car maintenance
    • Meaningful support and activities for caring for a person with memory loss
    • The Legal Stuff: Wills, Enduring Power of Attorney, Advance Care Directives
    • Looking after yourself as a carer (separate men’s session also available)
    • Finding what I need in the Aged Care System.
