Resthaven chosen for $29.2m program trial

Resthaven is proud to be one of five aged care providers chosen nationally to support older people via a $29.2 million ‘reablement’ trial, as announced by the Morrison Government.

The trial aims to support older people to live independently in their own homes for longer, by supporting them to maintain their mobility and independence – ‘reabling’ them.

Resthaven Executive Manager Community Services, Sue McKechnie, says, ‘Resthaven is a pioneer in the development of reablement models, exemplified by our Innovation & Excellence Award win in the Australian Aged Care Quality Agency (AACQA) 2017 Better Practice Awards.’

‘The award was for the development of wellness and reablement models in home care.  The program is a great success, and we are pleased to have the opportunity to further extend our focus to include reablement in assessment services.’

‘Resthaven will deliver the assessment trial in five regions across South Australia.’

‘Our Agedcare Alternatives Regional Assessment Service staff are currently completing the training, and are excited to get started.’

‘We look forward to working with the Government and other trial participants in testing and refining the reablement model of assessment.’
