    A Resthaven Christmas

On Tuesday 7 December, Resthaven Northern Community Services held their annual Christmas luncheon for clients in need of social connection.

Manager, Karen Hammond, says, ‘Every year, we ask the site staff if they would like to donate towards funding the event.’

‘Thanks to the generosity of our staff, we were able to share our Christmas spirit with 13 clients who would normally be alone at this time of the year.’

‘These clients often have no family left, or only have family members who live interstate or overseas.’

‘We would like to give a big thank you to the Salisbury North Football Club, for hosting us at their club – the food was delicious!’

Ann, one of the clients who attended, was overjoyed with being invited, saying, ‘If it wasn’t for this, I would have been stuck at home in my chair all day.’

‘The fact that Resthaven thought of me to bring along was truly lovely.’

Client, May, says, ‘There was nothing better on such a beautiful day. Good company and great food. Thank you Resthaven!’

Karen reflects, ‘It truly was an enjoyable afternoon, that showed the magic of this time of year. That a group of people that had never met before embraced the festive season together – silly jokes and all.’

‘Thank you to everyone who made this day possible.’

‘Merry Christmas from all at Resthaven Northern Community Services!’
