Resthaven funds scholarships to develop the future workforce

Resthaven actively works to position aged care as a career destination for people seeking long and secure jobs that make a difference. A tangible demonstration of this commitment is to offer a range of scholarships for university students in relevant disciplines to encourage them to consider aged care careers.

With a value of up to $10,000, the scholarships significantly assist students with their studies, and for many, cements their passion for working in the sector.

There is always a strong response to the opportunity of a scholarship provided by Resthaven, with future health care professionals finding their footing in the sector, and many gaining permanent employment within Resthaven after graduation.

A recipient of the 2020 Resthaven Undergraduate Nursing Scholarship offered at the University of South Australia, Kirralee Thomas said, ‘I would love to pursue a career in aged care once I finish my degree. It’s always been something I am extremely passionate about. My grandparents have been one of the biggest influences on my life, and I wish to give back to others as much as they have for me.’

‘I have always had an interest in the aged care sector, as I believe the elderly deserve the best attention and care in dental health. I hope to use my knowledge and skills to help improve people’s lives and would also like to travel and help those in developing countries’, says recipient of the 2019 Resthaven Undergraduate Scholarship in Oral Health at the University of Adelaide, Jennifer Lai.

In late 2020, Melayni Bovaird-Cations started working as an Occupational Therapist at Resthaven Murray Bridge, Hills & Fleurieu Community Services after also receiving a scholarship from Resthaven.

Current Resthaven scholarships available for 2021 are:
