    Harmony Day Celebrations across Resthaven

On Thursday 21 March, staff, volunteers and residents across Resthaven held ‘Harmony Day’ events, celebrating the diversity of the Australian community in which we live.

At Resthaven Marion, residents went all out, constructing a ‘harmony walk’ in their award-winning Warrawee Gardens.

Lifestyle Coordinator, Karen Neighbour, says, ‘The day started with a Harmony Day reflection service in the gardens, opened by resident, Mr Bruce McDonald, who acknowledged the original owners of our land. Bruce has a long history of working together with Indigenous Australians.’

‘Later, during the reflection service, residents wrote words of peace on smooth rocks from the gardens, which were later arranged into flowers and patterns on the lawn.’

‘These created a ‘harmony walk,’ for people to wander through and read beautiful messages of peace.’

‘A big thank you to all those residents, staff and volunteers who came along to help us celebrate Harmony Day.’

Harmony Day celebrations were held at many Resthaven sites. Well done to all who held events to celebrate this special day.
