Resthaven Malvern Valentine’s Day lunch hits the sweet spot
Resthaven Malvern has held a romantic ‘couples luncheon’ in celebration of Valentine’s Day, for residents and their partners.
Lifestyle Coordinator, Felicity Billing, says, ‘It’s not always easy to spend time with your partner when you have different care needs. Several people commented that they had not shared a Valentine’s celebration with their loved one in years.’
‘For this reason, we were so delighted that we could give the couples of Resthaven Malvern this special day.’
‘Couples were treated to romantic three course meal at their own private tables.’
‘They enjoyed champagne or soft drinks, an entrée of prawn twisters, followed by beef and vegetables, finished off with a love heart ice cream for dessert.’
‘Everything was cooked in our site kitchen by our amazing kitchen team.’
‘The event went so well, and we received lovely feedback from residents and their families about the day.’
‘We look forward to doing it again next year.’

Executive Manager Residential Services, Tina Cooper, says, ‘All Resthaven residential aged care homes have large couple rooms that fit two beds, enabling couples to remain living together even if their care needs change.’
‘People whose partners live in Resthaven whilst they remain at home are actively encouraged and welcomed to our residential aged care homes at any time. There are no set visiting hours.’
‘This is a wonderful example of supporting older people living in residential aged care to remain connected to their partners and their communities.’

Resthaven community services also supports older people living in their own homes in the community throughout metropolitan Adelaide, the Adelaide Hills, Murraylands, Riverland, Barossa, Fleurieu Peninsula and the Limestone Coast.
