Resthaven Marion Community Services Open Day

On Wednesday 30 October, more than 70 attendees braved the heat to enjoy the Resthaven Marion Community Services Open Day.

‘Everyone put lots of effort into making this event successful,’ says Dorota Mazurczak, Relieving Assistant Manager Community Services.

‘The stalls looked fabulous, and the atmosphere was very inviting, friendly and relaxed. All visitors felt very comfortable, and enjoyed checking out what was on display.

‘We had stalls for Resthaven’s services, including Residential Aged Care, Community Respite Services, Independent Retirement Living, and Volunteers. Resthaven’s aged care information service, Agedcare Alternatives, was also on site to answer any questions.

‘Of course, we also showcased what is on offer at our own site, with hand wax massage, exercise Tai Chi demonstrations, physiotherapy and tours of our gym to demonstrate reablement options.

‘We also had a ‘help pod’ to help people navigate the MyAgedCare website.

‘Attendees also enjoyed the sausage sizzle, Devonshire Tea and a choir performance by students from Westminster School.

‘The big hit of the day were the dogs brought along by Nick and Laura, trainers from the Australian Lions Hearing Dogs. They were more than happy to play with Huxley, the site’s therapy dog!’
