    Inaugural Resthaven Palliative Medicine Prize

    On 5 December, Wei Jie Tan, from the University of Adelaide was awarded the inaugural Resthaven Palliative Medicine Prize at the Bachelor of Medicine/Bachelor of Surgery Declaration Ceremony.

    The Palliative Medicine Prize is awarded to a final year University of Adelaide medical student who has demonstrated excellence in palliative medicine during their medical training.

    ‘We are pleased to have established this award as a contribution to our commitment to Palliative Medicine in the community’, says Wendy Morey, Resthaven Executive Manager Workforce Development and Governance.

    ‘Having employed a Palliative Care Nurse Practitioner, Peter Jenkin, since 2013, we saw this sponsorship as another opportunity to promote the importance of palliative medicine.’

    ‘Resthaven will sponsor the prize until 2022, demonstrating our ongoing dedication to palliative care within Resthaven and beyond.’

    ‘Peter Jenkin is part of the team involved in choosing a candidate of high merit in the field from a shortlist put together by other palliative care professionals from the central and northern Adelaide local health networks.’

    ‘We congratulate Wei Jie Tan, and wish him all the success in his future career.’
