SALA Exhibition at Resthaven Lane Cottage

    Art in the (re)Cycle Lane

‘The “Respite Rebels” at Resthaven’s Lane Cottage create individual and collective artworks here during respite stays’, says Resthaven Community Respite Services Manager, Carole Matthews.

‘Respite clients participate in a range of group and individual activities. One group is creating artworks with recyclable materials, with the view to “reduce, reuse and recycle” at the forefront of our ideas.’

‘It all started with the “Sustainable Christmas Tree” we created for Christmas 2017, and went from there!’

‘The artworks are quite inspirational, so we decided to enter the annual South Australian Living Artists (SALA) Festival.’

‘Resthaven’s Lane Cottage 2018 SALA Festival exhibition is titled “Art in the (re)cycle Lane”, and we describe it as “The transformation of old, recycled items into contemporary works of art created by older people participating in respite services in Adelaide’s southern metropolitan area”,’ Carole explains.

The exhibition will be held from Monday 27 August to Friday 31 August, 1.30–4pm, at Resthaven’s Lane Cottages, at Truro Avenue, Kingswood.

‘We’ll hold an Opening Event on Sunday 26 August, from 3–5pm, and invite our talented artists and their families along,’ Carole says.

Now in its 21st year, the SALA Festival is a state wide festival of visual art, open to all types of artists of any medium.
