Resthaven sponsors wellness grants – submissions now open!

To celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Uniting Church in Australia, Resthaven is sponsoring ‘Ageing and Wellness’ grants.

‘Resthaven has an indelible link to the Uniting Church in Australia, having been founded by the Methodist Church in 1935,’ says Resthaven Chief Executive Officer, Richard Hearn.

‘The Uniting Church formed in 1977 when the Methodist, Congregational and Presbyterian Churches came together, making 2017 their 40th year.’

‘In recognition of our proud history, and to celebrate the 40th Anniversary of the Uniting Church, the Resthaven Board chose to make a donation of $250,000 to the Uniting Church Synod of South Australia to sponsor “40th Anniversary Ageing and Wellness Grants”, for projects centred around the wellbeing of older people.’

‘During 2017, we want to honour the Church’s historical association with Resthaven. In supporting these grants, Resthaven is fulfilling our strategic intent to encourage positive images of older individuals, their contributions past and present, and their active participation and engagement in local communities,’ Richard explains.

‘We believe our donation, which underpins the Ageing and Wellness Grants program, acknowledges the importance of the relationship between Resthaven and the Uniting Church, and the role of older people in our communities.’

All Uniting Church congregations, faith communities and mission networks are invited to apply for these grants. Projects must demonstrate benefits to older people, positive ageing, community benefit, and/or links to existing programs within the Uniting Church, Resthaven or the wider community.

Applications may be used to further develop an existing project or to implement creative new initiatives, and more than one application may be sent in per group.

Applications for the 40th Anniversary Ageing and Wellness Grants must be received by 30 March 2018.
