• Resthaven Westbourne Park

Resthaven has been notified that several staff at Resthaven Westbourne Park have tested positive for COVID-19.

Unfortunately, the site is now considered an outbreak site.

As a result, we have initiated our COVID-19 outbreak management plan. To keep our community informed, we will maintain regular communication via text message.

Visiting is limited to those known as Partners in Care and named visitors. Prior to visiting, we suggest either confirming visiting arrangements with the primary contact or calling the site for clarification.

Residents in areas that are not affected by the outbreak continue to be free to move about the site, enjoying both the indoor and outdoor areas, and practicing COVID-19 friendly behaviours such as physical distancing and hand hygiene.

Whilst South Australia continues to have a high level of community transmission of COVID-19, please ensure you sign in using the QR code and electronic visitor management system on entry via the main doors, and allow time for this process.

If you have any symptoms of COVID-19, are unvaccinated for COVID-19 or are deemed a close contact of a positive case, you are not permitted to enter.

We continue to liaise with SA Health and the Australian Department of Health and will update the website with the latest information as soon as possible.

Resthaven is pleased to advise that the site is not currently restricting visitors. Primary resident contacts are notified of any exposures or outbreaks at the site. Prior to visiting, we suggest either confirming visiting arrangements with the primary resident contact or calling the site for clarification on the day to confirm. Thank you for your patience and cooperation.

We are pleased to announce that, effective Friday 11 March, normal visiting arrangements have been reinstated at all Resthaven residential aged care homes.

Residents are free to move around the site. Due to the high numbers of community transmission of COVID-19 in South Australia, the interim visiting arrangements will remain in place at this time.

    Visiting

Monday to Friday: 10am until 12 noon, and 2pm until 4pm.

Weekends and public holidays: 1pm until 5pm.

Whilst South Australia continues to have a high level of community transmission of COVID-19, visiting hours and times will be restricted to one visit by a maximum of two people, per resident, per day.

Please ensure you sign in using the QR code and electronic visitor management system. If you have any symptoms of COVID-19, or are deemed a close contact of a positive case, you are not permitted to enter. Please also be aware that all visitors to an aged care facility are now required to have a COVID-19 Booster Vaccination when eligible.

Whilst there is significantly high numbers of COVID-19 transmission in South Australia, SA Government and SA Health are asking people to limit unnecessary time in the community. In the interest of keeping our vulnerable community safe, we support this approach and strongly discourage all residents from leaving the site.

We are very pleased to advise all residents tested have now returned negative results and the COVID-19 outbreak is declared resolved. Residents are now free to move about the site and have visitors.

Due to the high numbers of community transmission of COVID-19 in South Australia, the interim visiting arrangements will remain in place at this time.

Unfortunately, Resthaven has been notified that a resident has returned a positive COVID-19 result. The resident has minimal symptoms and will be looked after by dedicated staff to reduce the risk of transmission.

The COVID-19 Outbreak Management Plan has been re-activated and the site is classed again as a COVID-19 Outbreak Site. The site is closed to general visiting as directed by SA Health, and residents are unable to leave the home.

All residents will be tested and are required to remain in their rooms with additional support at this time. Residents are being monitored regularly, with additional personal protective equipment in use.

The primary contact for each resident will receive regular communication by SMS. Primary resident contacts are to notify other family members and friends. Where a resident is identified as a close contact, we will advise primary contacts directly, and will notify them of test results as they are made available to us.

We ask for your support by limiting your contact with the site, in particular today, whilst staff are managing this situation.

Resthaven appreciates your understanding and support during this difficult time.

Unfortunately, we have been notified that a fully vaccinated staff member has tested positive for COVID-19. Contact tracing is underway. Under the new SA Health guidelines, the site is now considered a COVID-19 Exposure Site.

Whilst there are no restrictions to resident movement or changes to current visiting, all residents are required to be tested.

To keep our community informed, we will maintain regular communication via text message.

We continue to liaise with SA Health and the Australian Department of Health and will update the website with the latest information as soon as possible.

We take the opportunity to thank residents and families for their support and messages of appreciation during these challenging times. We would also like to acknowledge our staff who have worked tirelessly through these outbreaks ensuring our residents are well looked after and kept safe.

Due to the high numbers of community transmission of COVID-19 in South Australia, the interim visiting arrangements will remain in place at this time.

We are pleased to advise that SA Health have updated their guidelines for Residential Aged Care sites in managing COVID-19 Outbreaks.

Previously if there was a single positive case of COVID-19 in a staff member or visitor, the site was considered to be in a declared outbreak. This definition has now changed to a COVID-19 Exposure site. A COVID-19 Outbreak site is now defined as two or more positive staff members who were diagnosed at the same time, or, one positive resident.

As a result we have reviewed our current restrictions in line with this new advice. Residents are now free to move about the site, and we are able to recommence some visiting arrangements for visitors who meet all existing entry requirements.

Unfortunately, as the site is still considered an outbreak site, residents are unable to leave the site.

We continue to liaise with SA Health and the Australian Department of Health and will update the website with the latest information as soon as possible.

    Update for Families

We are pleased to advise that no residents have returned a positive result to date. Residents are due to be tested again on 12 January and remain in their rooms with regular monitoring and extra support.

As we had already activated the Resthaven COVID-19 Outbreak Management Plan, the site is in a good position to manage this outbreak. The site remains closed to visitors as directed by SA Health.

Thank you for your ongoing support.

We would like to take the opportunity to thank you for your support over what has been a difficult and challenging two weeks.

Residents are due for testing again tomorrow and again on 12 January. The testing requirements and current restrictions are reviewed regularly and may alter depending on new exposures. The current restrictions continue to be in place until otherwise advised.

Thank you for your continued support.

We have been informed that a personal carer who worked at Resthaven Westbourne Park on 26 December, 2021, from 3.00-11.00pm, has now tested positive for COVID-19.

As a result, we have initiated our COVID-19 outbreak management plan, all residents will remain in their rooms with additional PPE in place and regular monitoring. Testing of all residents will be arranged once we receive directions from SA Health. The site is now closed to visiting and residents are also unable to leave the home.

We are providing regular communication to families by SMS and where a resident is identified as a close contact we will advise you directly. We ask your support by limiting your contact with the site, in particular today, whilst staff prepare to manage this situation. We will notify families of test results as they are made available to us, please do not call seeking these.

We will continue to liaise with SA Health and the Australian Department of Health and will update the website with information as soon as possible.
