1,770 years of service recognised at Resthaven Staff Appreciation Awards
On 5 July 2024, almost 100 Resthaven staff were honoured for their long service milestones at the annual Resthaven Staff Appreciation Awards luncheon held at the Adelaide Pavilion.
The Resthaven Staff Appreciation Awards, held every year since 1993 (excluding 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic), celebrate staff who have completed their service milestones in increments of five, starting at ten years.
Topping the 2024 awardee list were 35-year service staff members, Robyn Farr (pictured, Resthaven Paradise) and Martin Giles (Resthaven Marion).
All up, this year’s awardees had completed 1,770 years of combined service.
Staff who have been with Resthaven for 30 years or more (the ‘30+ Club’) are invited to the awards each year. This includes Resthaven’s longest-serving employee in attendance, Maria Filpi of Resthaven Leabrook, who celebrated 40 years of service in 2023.
Resthaven’s longest-ever employee, Lesley Wimbles, retired last year after 46 years of service, and is now a Resthaven volunteer.
The Resthaven Staff Appreciation Awards luncheon is always a flagship event on the Resthaven calendar, and is attended by staff, managers, Executive, and Board Members.
Board President, Mark Porter, and CEO, Darren Birbeck, presented award recipients with an appreciation gift and certificate recognising their service.
Regional staff will be honoured with their own events in Mount Gambier, Murray Bridge, and the Riverland, which will also be attended by Mark and Darren.
‘The Resthaven Staff Appreciation Awards are a great opportunity to thank our staff for their hard work and dedication,’ Darren Birbeck says.
‘We are committed to recognising our staff, and we thank those people who have devoted a significant part of their career and lives to Resthaven. Congratulations to all long-serving Resthaven staff! Your tireless work and loyalty have enabled Resthaven’s achievements to be realised.’
