Spiritual Care Seminar in the South East
Today, Resthaven Mount Gambier, at 24 Elizabeth Street, Mount Gambier, hosted a seminar on spiritual care, aimed at those in the community who work with or care for older people.
The seminar was run by Meaningful Ageing Australia, the Not-for-Profit peak body helping organisations and groups to respond to the pastoral and spiritual needs of older people, their significant others, and their carers.
Wendy Morey, Resthaven Executive Manager Workforce Development & Governance, says, ‘We are delighted that Meaningful Ageing Australia has chosen Resthaven to host this very important seminar.’
‘Like Meaningful Ageing Australia, Resthaven is also dedicated to ensuring older people have access to high quality pastoral and spiritual care.’
‘The organisation has recognised that such seminars can be hard to get to, especially for those in regional areas, so we are really pleased to host this valuable training in the state’s south-east.’
The seminar is open to anyone who works with or cares for older people in the local community. This session engaged participants in a process of developing and deepening understandings of spirituality and spiritual care. It supports the development of confidence in providing basic spiritual care, and discerning when to refer to a skilled practitioner.
The seminar, ‘Spiritual Care in a Diverse World’ was hosted by Resthaven Mount Gambier on Tuesday 19 June, 9:30 am – 12:30 pm at 24 Elizabeth Street, Mount Gambier.
