Resthaven teams up with the local Murray Bridge community

Recently, Resthaven Murray Bridge reached out to the local community to improve a popular activity on-site.

Lifestyle Coordinator, Soraya Fitzgerald, says, ‘We needed a stronger, more durable prop to use for our growing golf activity on-site. We had been using a modified cardboard box as our target, and it was taking a beating!’

Soraya came across the Murraylands Community Men’s Shed, which was the perfect group to join in on a  project to create a sturdy target.

‘Mick and the men at the Murraylands Community Men’s Shed were more than accommodating and willing to help us out.’

The Murraylands Community Men’s Shed is a small, local not-for-profit group that aim to provide engaging venues for men of all ages and backgrounds to enjoy.

‘This was a great way for us to reach out and build connections within the community.’

‘Now we have built a relationship with them, we may well work with them again in the future!’

While the group were happy to assist, Resthaven Murray Bridge provided a small donation of fifty dollars to cover the material costs.

‘The Men were very accommodating, not wanting us to pay too much for such a piece that will bring joy to a lot of people for many years to come.’

‘They take a lot of pride in their work and are a wonderful bunch of men who support their community.’

‘We certainly had a great time taking part in this project, and we have already received great praise from residents at [Resthaven] Murray Bridge.’
