‘The Naracoorte Crafters’ paint their way into Christmas

On Friday 25 November, a small group of creative clients at Resthaven Limestone Coast Community Services tried their hand at a new medium, painting their way into Christmas.

Coordinator, Tess Hallett, says, ‘The Naracoorte Crafters expressed their interest in stained glass art, so volunteer, Gina, developed a series of Christmas-themed templates for the group to work on.’

Among the designs were Christmas bells, stockings, Father Christmas bearing gifts, angels, and a decorated Christmas tree—all spreading Christmas cheer amongst the group.

‘The participants picked up a glass frame of their choice, then chose which coloured markers they wished to “paint” onto their templates—each creating their own unique stained-glass painting to take home.’

    Clients commented:

‘I quite enjoyed doing this activity, it’s great to learn something new’, and ‘I always have a great time at Resthaven’s social activities. I like that I have the opportunity to make new friends.’

Tess says, ‘Many clients were looking forward to taking their works of art home to proudly show off to their friends and family.’

‘They have already requested to do this activity again in the new year, and have asked Gina to come back again!’

What activity will they take on next?
