A career in aged care? Yes!

Meet Brock Muller, 25, who challenges the stereotypical attitude that aged care is not a workplace for young people.

Brock has worked as a personal care assistant at Resthaven Mount Gambier for three years, and brings with him youthful enthusiasm and a willingness to learn from the older people he supports.

Brock says, ‘I believe strongly in the values of Resthaven, and I am proud to work there. As a male, I believe that I bring diversity to a female-dominated workplace.’

The residents at Resthaven Mount Gambier agree. Mrs Pauline Scott was thrilled to participate in filming a testimonial with Brock, enjoying a walk around the beautiful site gardens together while the cameras rolled.

The Resthaven Mount Gambier site gardens include age-friendly features such as raised garden beds, eco lighting, and smooth, extra-wide paths. They are designed to stimulate the senses with colourful, sweet-smelling flowers, wind chimes, and water features. It’s no wonder that Brock and Mrs Scott enjoyed them!

Resthaven Mount Gambier opened in 2011 as a purpose-built, state of the art residential aged care home. It is home to around 100 residents, who are supported in their individual wellness goals by approximately 100 dedicated staff.

If you, like Brock, would like to join the Resthaven Mount Gambier team, visit the Resthaven website to check out job vacancies and apply: www.resthaven.asn.au/careers.
