Work experience opportunities for students
Resthaven provides practical and meaningful work experience opportunities to students wishing to gain exposure to careers in the aged care sector.
We aim to offer suitable and positive opportunities for students within a supportive environment.
Student or work experience placements are arranged as part of a recognised program or course of study and may include:
- Secondary school work experience programs, including community service programs (e.g. High School students over the age of 16).
- Tertiary institutions work experience programs or compulsory work placement (e.g. University)
- Registered Training Organisation work experience programs or compulsory work placement (e.g. TAFE)
The period of engagement varies based on requirements and could include vocational placements, work experience or familiarisation to aged care services.

I have completed my last placement (8 weeks) at Resthaven Port Elliot, and I am so grateful to have worked with wonderful staff in a supportive environment. It was one of the best placements I ever had. I will consider working for Resthaven one day. Thank you so much for having me.

Thank you so much for the hard work and time you put into organising the learning sessions and discussion during our placement. I personally really benefited from this — I just received my written assignment, and am happy I scored a high distinction!
I owe this to the encouragement, teaching, and abundant opportunities all the encouraging staff gave me while at Resthaven. I really appreciate it, and God bless you.

I couldn’t thank the team enough for their support, team work and in inclusive environment. They worked collaboratively to provide the best possible service to residents. My placement was for three weeks and there wasn’t a single resident with negative feedback about the service. Keep up the great work!
