Statement of Purpose
Enriching the lives of older people.
Multiculturalism and Diversity
Resthaven acknowledges the traditional owners of the lands on which its services are delivered. We pay our respects to elders past, present and future. We are a richly diverse community, founded on the principles of inclusion and unity, embracing and respecting each person’s beliefs, culture, language, sexual orientation, gender identity, lifestyle, life experiences and values.
Resthaven’s Diversity Action Plan reflects our commitment to being an inclusive organisation.
Our corporate governance model supports ethical business practice and compliance in accordance with the law, regulatory requirements, professional standards and guidelines. Resthaven is committed to operating responsibly with the highest ethical standards and has no tolerance for modern slavery in its operations and supply chains. History
In the early years of South Australia’s settlement, services for the elderly were very limited. Resthaven was established by the Methodist Church in 1935, during the Great Depression, when many frail elderly people relied on Christian charity to survive.
Board
The well-qualified and experienced Resthaven Board provides strong governance and upholds high ethical standards. Its members bring expertise from a broad range of business and community sectors, and are responsible for setting the organisation’s overall strategic direction. The Board’s direction is implemented by an extensive qualified workforce, including a Chief Executive Officer and Executive Managers.
Executive
Resthaven’s executive team is made up of highly skilled professionals, led by Chief Executive Officer Darren Birbeck. Darren joined Resthaven in 2019 and is a strong advocate for the rights and wellbeing of older people.
