    Agedcare Alternatives is a free information service that helps older people, their carers and families, to find and understand information about aged care services.     Assistance with Care and Housing

    The Assistance with Care and Housing Programme helps older people find secure, sustainable and affordable housing, and link with support services.

     

    The Assistance with Care and Housing Programme is available to people over the age of 50 years, from all backgrounds, who are on a low income and are homeless, or may be at risk of becoming homeless from not having secure accommodation.

    Community Nursing

    Resthaven is contracted by the Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA) to provide a full range of nursing services, including palliative care, for eligible Veterans.

     

    Referrals are welcome from general practitioners, hospitals, community nurses and allied health professionals. All referral agencies must identify their DVA provider number on the referral.

    Guide to using your medicine safely

    This guide aims to assist you to use medicine safely, or to help you care for someone who needs you to assist them to take their medicine.

     

    Medicine is anything you swallow, inhale, or put on your skin to treat, manage or prevent health issues.

     

    It contains ideas that may help you to use your medicine safely and independently.

    Home Care Packages

    Resthaven supports older people who require assistance to remain at home through individually tailored support services called ‘Home Care Packages’.

     

    Services are delivered using a Consumer Directed Care (CDC) approach, which gives the older person choice and flexibility in the way their care and support is provided.

    Resthaven assists older people to remain independent and safe in their home and to participate in community life.

    Respite Fact Sheets

    Are you looking for respite, or are you a carer needing extra support in your caring role?

    Resthaven offers access to useful services and programs for carers which can assist you to stay well and healthy.

    The support we offer is flexible; choose from day or overnight respite in a variety of settings, either at home or at one of our cottages.

    Resthaven Lifestyle Choices Plus Companion Service

    Resthaven’s Lifestyle Choices Plus Companion Service may assist you to:

    • Attend appointments
    • Visit with family and friends
    • Go on shopping trips and visits to cafes
    • Continue to attend church, senior citizens, sporting clubs, RSL etc
    • Enjoy outings to the movies, art gallery, theatre, and other events
    • Simply have some company.

    This service is available for purchase by, or on behalf of, residents who reside at Resthaven’s residential homes, and would like a companion to escort them off site, or undertake personal visits.

    Short Term Restorative Care

    Resthaven’s Short Term Restorative Care (STRC) Program provides services over an eight week period to improve your wellbeing and independence. The services aim to improve your ability to complete everyday tasks, and delay or avoid the need for long-term care.

    South Australian Serbs – A perspective of the older community

    Resthaven developed this publication (in 2009) to provide a perspective about Serbian people and their culture. It is based on the findings from our project and aims to serve as a guide for service providers to help them better understand the Serbian community in South Australia and assist them to deliver culturally appropriate services.

    The Good, the Bad, and the Brilliant

    The Good, The Bad and The Brilliant is a booklet that relates the personal experiences of being a carer of, or as a person living with dementia.

     

    Arising from conversations with a number of carers and people living with dementia, this document aims to capture the uniqueness of each journey, while exploring the shared experience.

     

    This cohesive set of personal stories comes together as a balanced narrative that explores the good, the bad and the brilliant along the way. It should be read by all people touched by dementia, and even those who are not.

    Resthaven provides Vision Support Services throughout all Adelaide metropolitan areas, the
    Limestone Coast, Murray Bridge, the Adelaide Hills, and the Fleurieu Peninsula, thanks to Commonwealth Home Support Programme funding.

    Newsletters are a key source of communication at Resthaven, enabling all volunteers to remain up-to-date regarding Resthaven activities, events and requirements.
