The Tour Down Under comes to Resthaven Murray Bridge!

There was a buzz of excitement amongst the Resthaven Murray Bridge community on Friday 19 January, with everyone looking forward to cheering on Stage Four of the Santos Tour Down Under (Murray Bridge – Port Elliot).

Manager Residential Services, Kelly Gladigau, says, ‘The festivities began early with residents enjoying a delicious morning tea of red velvet cake and fruit in the hall.’

‘Together with the lifestyle team, they prepared handmade streamers and flags, ready to cheer on the peloton as they go past. Some even decorated their walkers and wheelchairs!’

At mid-morning, staff, volunteers, residents, and their families headed down the driveway for prime viewing outside the home at 53 Swanport Road. Others elected to watch the event from the comfort of the home’s verandas and balconies.

At the roadside, the group was joined by Resthaven Murray Bridge, Hills and Fleurieu Community Services clients and their families.

‘We all heard the whirring of the helicopters and knew that the cyclists had crossed the Murray River and were heading our way.’

‘Everyone had their flags at the ready and soon enough, the peloton whizzed straight past us, with everyone excitedly cheering them on!’

‘What a fantastic opportunity it was for residents and clients to catch a glimpse of this famous cycling event, with many residents positively commenting on the experience.’
