‘Richard has given thirty-four years of exemplary service to Resthaven, and the organisation’s success and standing in the community are a testament to his leadership, faithfulness, and devotion to duty.

‘Under his leadership, Resthaven has grown not only in its provision of residential and community services, but also in its reputation and standing in the community.

‘Richard’s genuine concern for the elderly, the frail and the vulnerable, along with his capacity to master detail, understand the changing landscape of aged care in Australia, and develop strategy are impressive.

‘With the support of skilled management, staff and volunteers, Richard has led a mission-focussed organisation that is an asset to the community. He has advocated on behalf of the aged care sector in South Australia and nationally and chaired the UnitingCare Aged Care Network.

‘Last year, he was awarded Aged and Community Services Australia’s SA/NT Distinguished Service Award in recognition of his contribution to the sector.’

‘Richard will leave Resthaven in a strong and commanding position to confront the challenges of the future with confidence and optimism once a suitable successor has been appointed and is in place.

‘The Board has established a Transition Committee whose role it is to recruit Richard’s successor, and the recruitment process will commence shortly through Hender Consulting.’

‘We will keep our community informed of our progress.’

Celebrating 85 years in 2020, Resthaven Incorporated supports more than 10,000 older people and their carers throughout metropolitan Adelaide and regional South Australia.
